Inspirations: the persistence of walking

‘In every walk with nature one receives far more than they seek’
John Muir – Scots-American naturalist, author and ‘Father of the U.S. National Parks’

Walking in the landscape has always been a major source of inspiration for John and the process of walking key to his process of thinking creatively about poems.

The images on this page are taken from John’s frequent walks round one of his favourite writing locations – Dinton Pastures Country Park

Listen to the track of ‘Torn’ from John’s ‘The Uses Of Poetry’ CD. ‘Torn’ was inspired by an Autumn walk on Dartmoor.
